Michigan City put up 29 fourth quarter points to pull away in its Class 4A Sectional 3 opener Wednesday night, defeating the host Slicers 70-60 at LaPorte High School’s Slicer Gym.
Dez’Mand Hawkins led the Wolves with 17 points, Jamie Hodges had 15, and Evan Bush posted 13 to send City (17-6) to Friday’s semifinal against South Bend Adams. Tahari Watson added 10 for the Wolves.
LaPorte’s Garrott Ott-Large had a game-high 22 points. The Slicers close the campaign at 10-13.
Adams (21-3) eliminated Mishawaka (12-11) in Wednesday’s first game. The Wolves and Eagles meet in Friday’s second semifinal at 7 p.m. Class 4A No. 6 Culver Academy (17-4) faces Plymouth (6-16) at 5 p.m. in the first semifinal.
