City Tennis closed out its regular season last night at home, hosting Lowell on senior night. Seniors John Bruning, Robert Lemon, Dante Morland, and Connor Reynolds played their final match on the Norm Bruemmer tennis courts, and it was a great night of tennis.
Pre-match, the seniors honored influential teachers, and Mrs. Freitag, Mr. Gast, Mr. Puetzer, and Mrs. Zahrt lined up with the tennis team. We would like to thank them for making time to support our team.
The match was tied at 2-2, with wins at #3 singles by Luke Poulin and at #2 doubles for Ryan Cuma and Kyle Yackus. This left it to Lucas White and John Bruning at #1 doubles to try to clinch for City. After losing the 1st set by a large margin, #1 dubs dug deep, and came back to get within a few points of forcing a 3rd set. They played as well as they could, but it was not our night, and City fell 3-2.
JV ends its season here, but there is a little MORE tennis to play. Come support City Tennis in Round 1 of the sectional next Wednesday at Kessling Park in LaPorte.
