Senior Omar Serrano has been named a recipient of the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship for 2020.
The Evans Scholarship is a tuition and housing scholarship awarded through the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars Foundation. Through Long Beach Country Club, Serrano was able to meet one of the requirements of the caddie scholarship, having caddied 101 rounds at LBCC over the past three years. Other main criteria include demonstrating high moral character through volunteering and leadership, outstanding grades and test scores, as well as financial need.
The scholarship fully covers tuition and housing and is renewable up to four years.
Serrano has been a member of the Wolves’ boys soccer team for four years, the boys golf team for three years, and also kicked for the City football team last fall. He currently sports a 4.25 grade point average and is ranked 18th out of 352 in the MCHS Class of 2020.
Still undecided on his destination, Serrano has already been accepted to Ohio State, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, Oregon, Penn State, and Missouri and is still awaiting decisions from a few other schools. He plans on majoring in international business.
Serrano joins 2013 City graduate Matthew Quinlan and 2019 City graduate Jack Attar as the most recent MCHS Evans Scholars.
