Tonight is Senior Night at Ames Field against Portage High School. Come out and salute this record breaking senior class who already has more wins (17) than any 4 year group in MCHS history. The Wolves at 4-2 and 3-1 in the DAC are up against an Indians squad who is 4-2 overall, but is an undefeated 4-0 in DAC play. The Wolves aim to change that tonight.
While Senior night typicall signals the end for a group of players, and there are only 3 regular season game left in this season, there is still plenty for the Wolves to do in order to keep adding to their own record book.
Currently our Wolves sit at #8 in the 5A polls in both the AP and Coaches poll. The Sagarin Computer polls have them at #6 in and #25 in the entire state. The Max Preps computer poll has City at #4 in 5A and #23 overall.
-2 more wins out of the last 3 games will give the Wolves a school record for DAC wins at 5.
-A win next week at LaPorte would break a 10 game losing streak on the LaPorte field. They have not won there since 1995.
-If the Wolves win their next 3 games, they will clinch a share of the DAC title for the first time in school history. They control their own fate, if they win out, no one can stop them.
-4 more wins will reset the school record for wins in a single season at 8.
-5 more wins will give Coach Phil Mason the Michigan City all time wins record for a football coach at MCHS.
-2 straight wins in the post season will give the team its first ever sectional crown going into a sectional they current sit as the highest rated team in.
-3 straight post season wins will give City a Regional title in a Region they are currently the highest rated team in.
-4 straight post season wins will give City a Semi-State title, and a ticket to Indianapolis. Only one team in Michigan City’s entire Semi-State is rated higher currently.
-5 straight post season wins will give any Michigan City team its first state title in football.
